Zion Kiptoo's Kenyaricans

Welcome to our page everyone! This fundraising effort is in memory of Zion Kiptoo who passed on May 21, 2014 of a brain stem tumor, we miss him every day. He is shown on the right with his younger brother Kigen (in the sunglasses). We wanted to tell you a little about Zion. He was almost 3 years old when he was diagnosed with cancer, he was a active, loving, caring, and bright little boy who had been in good health until one day he was falling over when he walked. He was brought to the hospital where they found the tumor after an MRI and radiation treatment started quickly after that. Zion fought cancer with more courage and strength than you would expect from a young boy. He went to preschool, he looked out for his brother, he loved playing with trains and cars, if you saw Zion you would not have known he was fighting such a big battle, he was a typical 3 and then 4 year old. It is because of him and the help that the CURE gave our family during he treatment that we have decided to raise $5,000 to help local Rochester families with their fight against cancer as well. Please consider donating any amount of money to help this cause, it truly helps to have the support of the CURE at such a tough time, they help in so many ways! They still provide support for our family today!

Please join us in the fundraising effort for CURE Childhood Cancer Association.

CURE Childhood Cancer Association is a local Rochester organization that was formed in 1976 by a group of bereaved parents. These parents were pioneers in providing a resource to other parents coping with childhood cancer. The organization was formed with the mission of providing Counseling Understanding Research and Education.

Thirty eight years later, CURE provides financial, educational, emotional and social assistance to families coping with childhood cancer and chronic blood disorders. CURE is there to meet the very specific needs of these families, who depend upon the services that CURE provides.

When: Saturday, April 25th - registration begins at 8 AM

Where: Seneca Park

Why: To make a difference to local families coping with childhood cancer and chronic blood disorders. YOU can participate and help to raise money to assist families with parking at the hospital, gifts and food for their families during the holidays, activities and parties that help these children forget what they are going through for a little while and MUCH MUCH more...

We help close to 800 LOCAL families per year! Last year, we saved families over $50,000 in parking fees at the hospital, helped families attend important medical appointments with the help of over $700 in gas gift cards and ensured the family had food through providing over $1,400 in food gift cards. These are just a small handful of the services we provide for our families.

YOU can be providing the funding needed to help these families shoulder the burden they suddenly find themselves under when their child is diagnosed with cancer.
