“A heart is not judged by how much you love, but by how much you are loved by others.”
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
As we close out our ruby 40th Anniversary year, we ask that you walk the gold brick road with us one more time. The annual Holiday Heroes campaign is your last chance this year to celebrate our anniversary with us and to recognize the heroes in your life. YOU can make a difference in the lives of many by participating in our Holiday Heroes campaign. You will be honoring the hero in your life and contributing to the very important services and programs CURE Childhood Cancer Association provides to our families.
“There really are not any words to describe the feeling of being told your child has cancer. We were so overwhelmed by doctors, nurses, tests - so many people and so much information. It was a Friday and our son was going to remain in the hospital for induction therapy for 6-8 weeks. Then I met two amazing ladies, who not only watched me cry but told me it is ok to cry and have all these mixed feelings. They said they would be here for us for anything and everything! They were the Parent Advocates from CURE. They both have a child who is a survivor of cancer, so they completely understand what we parents are feeling and going through. From this day forward, CURE and its staff became like another family to us (along with our oncology family). The first year of our son's treatment was the worst. He had just about every complication possible with numerous PICU hospitalizations - money was extremely tight. CURE has helped us in so many ways like with parking vouchers. Parking is $6 per day and when families are there day in and day out, that adds up quick! Then there were the meal vouchers, so parents can enjoy a meal with their child while inpatient in their room. CURE provided gas gift cards; driving back and forth to the hospital several times a week adds up quickly. We also received gift cards for groceries, since our son's dietary needs become very expensive! The biggest help of all was Christmas. Without CURE, Christmas was not going to be much of anything in our house. It still brings tears to my eyes talking about that day and thinking about him opening presents, seeing him excited and happy with his gifts!! CURE helped us throughout his long journey to battle his Leukemia.” – a CURE mom
Thank you again for becoming a part of the CURE family and supporting our Mission. YOU can make a difference with your donation. We ask that you continue your support, reminding these families that "there's nowhere like Rochester", their neighbors are there for them and they do not have to face their journey alone.
We will be there for them.
Just as we have been there for so many families over the past 40 years.
