Meet our Honorary CURE Kid Chefs:
Lucas is an eighth grader. He plays soccer, has a brown belt in karate, takes drum lessons, and is involved in his church youth group as part of the tech team. He lives with his Dad, Michael, Mom, Kathy, and bichon frise, Lily.
Lucas is adjusting to being an only child after the recent loss of his younger sister Lydia to leukemia. She had the privilege of being a chef at a past CURE brunch, and Lucas is pleased to be a part of this year’s event. He appreciates the many ways CURE has been supportive of his family over the past few years.

Sara finished treatments almost 2 years ago. CURE has meant so much to her and her family. She loves all of the events like the Christmas party, the Survivor's Day Picnic, the CURE Kids Cancer Golf Classic, Cutting 4 A CURE and many more. This is her first time at the Brunch and she has been looking forward to attending.
Courtney is an 18 year old graduate of Canandaigua Academy. She loves soccer, basketball, her family, her medical team, the Ellen Show, William Smith College and Dave Matthews Band. She was thrilled to have the opportunity to appear on the Ellen Show this past March and to meet the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team in May. The love and support of the Rochester community and excellent care by her doctors, nurses and caregivers made those dreams come true.
Courtney was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a type of brain cancer, in September 2011, on her second day of high school. She has had more than 100 radiation treatments, several brain and spine surgeries and countless doses of various chemotherapies. Although she endures a serious disease, Courtney approaches each day with a smile. She likes to focus on "regular life" not "cancer life". Courtney is currently working on her autobiography.

In the summer of 1988, at the age of three Michelle was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. She had an aggressive cancerous tumor growing in the bone of right humerus. Michelle underwent a year and a half of intense chemotherapy along with surgery to replace her bone with a stainless steel prosthesis that had the ability to be lengthened as she grew. Michelle never had a reoccurrence of the cancer. Today Michelle is thirty years old. While she still has cognitive issues and a seizure disorder resulting from the chemotherapy she lives a very happy and fulfilling life. She is currently working at Springdale farm where she helps care for the animals, works in the greenhouse, and assists in giving tours to school children who visit the farm. Michelle has many friends, both at work and in her congregation where she is active doing volunteer work. Michelle has many hobbies. She loves to keep active doing zumba and jogging. The last two years she has led her team "Punky's Pride" in CURE's 5k. For Michelle it has been a long and often difficult road, but she has chosen to make the journey with a positive attitude and a smile on her face. We are so proud of the young woman Michelle has become and feel blessed every day to have her in our lives.
